As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers locate evidence of a shooting: On 3/14/23, at approximately 4:12 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of  East 21st Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no injuries were reported, no suspect information is available, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers investigate non-fatal stabbing:  On 3/13/23 at approximately 10:40 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Ximeno Avenue regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. Through their investigation, officers determined the man was inside his residence when he became involved in an altercation with his dating partner, a female adult, that escalated to the stabbing. Both parties were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and arrested for the following:

  • Kasie Kelly, a 51-year-old resident of Long Beach, was arrested for one count of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/ cohabitant and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $50,000.
  • Charles Hall, a 47-year-old resident of the city of Cleveland, Ohio, was arrested for one count of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/ cohabitant and one count of false imprisonment. Bail was set at $50,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
