As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
- Stabbing – 2000 block of Long Beach Boulevard - On March 7, 2024, at approximately 10:29 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking in the 2000 block of Long Beach Boulevard, when he was suddenly physically assaulted by three, unknown male adult suspects. During the assault, the suspects stabbed the victim with an unknown object. The suspects fled in a vehicle towards an unknown direction before officers arrived. The motive for the incident is unknown. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
- No-Hit Shooting – 6700 block of Gardenia Avenue - On March 8, at approximately 4:02 a.m., officers responded to the 6700 block of Gardenia Avenue regarding shots call. Upon arrival, officers located bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
