As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • Stabbing – Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street - On March 9, 2024, at approximately 6:23 p.m., officers responded to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and an unknown male adult suspect, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled in a vehicle towards an unknown direction before officers arrived. The motive for the incident is unknown. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

  • Hit-Shooting – 5500 block of Dairy Avenue - On March 9, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to the 5500 block of Dairy Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in his vehicle which was parked in front of a residence when an unknown suspect(s) fired at the vehicle, striking the victim. The suspect(s) fled the scene before officers arrived. No other injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Hit-Shooting – 200 block of West Anaheim Street - On March 10, 2024, at approximately 3:19 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Anaheim Street regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The victim was uncooperative in providing additional details of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
