LBPD Blotter - 6/6/24

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.


Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night.

  • Hit Shooting – 2000 block of Pasadena Avenue - On June 5, 2024, at approximately 8:03 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Pasadena Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was sitting in a vehicle talking with a known male adult suspect, standing outside of the vehicle, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim and fled the area. No other injuries were reported. The victim was uncooperative in providing additional details of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Hit Shooting - Los Angeles River/405 Freeway - On June 5, 2024, at approximately 8:07 p.m., officers responded to the Los Angeles River and 405 Freeway area regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was standing outside of a tent when an unknown suspect shot him. Officers were unable to locate evidence of a shooting. No other injuries were reported. The motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

  • No-Hit Shooting - Pasadena Avenue/20th Street - On June 5, 2024, at approximately 9:19 p.m., officers responded to the area of 23rd Street and Pasadena Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting near 20th Street and Pasadena Avenue. No injuries were reported. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Great work officers! Yesterday, officers safely took two guns off the streets.

  • On June 5, 2024, at approximately 6:56 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue. During a vehicle search, officers recovered two firearms. Two suspects were found to be prohibited possessors and were arrested. A third suspect was arrested for their no bail felony warrant. The investigation is ongoing.
