This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

UPDATE 11:15 a.m.

  • Officers investigate a hit shooting and arrest suspect: On June 29, 2023, at approximately 8:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was standing outside when he was shot by the male adult suspect. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby. He was transported to the Long Beach City Jail for booking. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Motive for the shooting is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

  •  Officers investigate a hit-shooting - On June 29, 2023 at approximately 6:53 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Cerritos Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers rendered aid to the victim and Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries. The victim stated he was in front of a known residence, when the suspect approached him, and he was struck by gunfire. The suspect fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
