- Officers investigate a hit-shooting - On June 25, 2023, at approximately 11:38 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Cedar Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the lower body. The preliminary investigation indicates that the male adult suspect and the victim had a verbal dispute, leading to the suspect shooting the victim. The victim and the suspect are known to one another. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating that a shooting had occurred. Long Beach Fire Department personnel provided medical aid and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Motive is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

- Officers investigate a No-Hit Shooting: On June 24, 2023 at approximately 8:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Alamitos Avenue regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred, including strike marks and casings. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult exited the passenger seat of an SUV and approached another male adult sitting in the driver’s seat of a sedan. The two men had a verbal dispute, escalating to an exchange of gunfire. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting is under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers arrest a suspect for negligent discharge: On June 25, 2023, at approximately 12:54 a.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of East Pacific Coast Highway regarding a person with a gun. The preliminary investigation indicates that a woman was sitting at a bar in a restaurant, when the male adult suspect repeatedly touched her arm inappropriately. When the victim expressed that she did not want to be touched, the suspect displayed a firearm and then put it back into his waistband. The suspect left the scene. Later, at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of Marina Pacifica Drive regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult suspect, matching the description given by a witness. Officers arrested the suspect, and a firearm was located on his person. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred, including strike marks and casings. The suspect was identified as the same suspect who had displayed a firearm at the 6300 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. The motive for the shooting is under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect was transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Roberto Mosquera*, a 47-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for exhibiting a firearm in a threatening manner, sexual battery, public intoxication, and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. Bail is set at $25,000.
