As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers investigate a no-hit shooting resulting in a SWAT activiation: On June 22, 2023, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Locust Avenue, regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted an uninjured male adult victim. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was outside a residence when he and the known male adult suspect engaged in a verbal dispute, which escalated when the suspect revealed a firearm and discharge the firearm. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction before officers arrived. Officers located strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. Later that day at approximately 7:20 p.m., the SWAT team was activated, and served a search warrant service to the residence. Nearby residents were evacuated and/or sheltered in place. Upon entering and clearing the residence, they were unable to locate the suspect. Additional suspect information is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On June 22, 2023 at approximately 5:42 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Artesia Boulevard regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim. The victim stated he was in his vehicle which was parked in the 1700 block of Artesia Boulevard, when he heard presumed gunfire and noticed his vehicle had been struck The victim was not injured, and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting is under investigation. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
