As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

UPDATE at 5:24 p.m.:

  • Officers investigate a fatal traffic collision - Today at approximately 3:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Anaheim Road, regarding an injury traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle and motorcycle that had been involved in a traffic collision. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and determined a male adult motorcyclist deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital by Fire Department personnel for minor injuries. Collision Investigation Detectives responded to further the investigation, and the cause of the accident is still being determined. A news releasing detailing the incident is forthcoming. Bellflower Boulevard from Pacific Coast Highway to Anaheim Road is currently closed to traffic.



Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a No Hit Shooting: On June 21, 2023, at approximately 7:06 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of 11th Street regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred, including strike marks and casings. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting is under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
