As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers Investigate a Murder - On June 16, 2023, at approximately 9:58 p.m., officers responded to the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue regarding a report of a hit shooting which resulted in the death of a male adult. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers rendered aid until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel who subsequently transported the victim to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injury.   • Officers Responded to a Traffic Fatality - On June 16, 2023 at 10:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to Willow Street and Caspian Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between two vehicles, which resulted in the death of a female adult. Upon arrival, officers located a female adult who had been ejected from a vehicle. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and performed life-saving medical aid; however, the victim was determined deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
