LBPD Blotter - June 16, 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No-Hit Shooting – 600 block of Golden Avenue: On June 15, 2024 at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Golden Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates a physical altercation occurred between two groups of subjects, which resulted in a female adult victim sustaining minor injuries to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for her injuries. A short time later, one of the group of subjects returned in a vehicle and an unknown suspect exited the vehicle and discharged a firearm towards the victims, missing them. The suspect(s) fled the scene before officers arrived. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.   

  • Hit Shooting – 300 block of Hermosa Avenue: On June 16, 2024 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Hermosa Avenue regarding a shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates a female adult victim and female adult suspect were engaged in a verbal altercation, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim in the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for her injuries, where she is listed in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers recovered a firearm at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took two guns off the streets.

  • On June 15, at approximately 9:50 p.m., High Crime Focus Team officers recovered two firearms during a traffic stop near 25th Street and Delta Avenue. The driver and passenger were both in possession of firearms and subsequently arrested.
