Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers Investigate a Stabbing - On June 15, 2023 at approximately 5:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Seaside Way and Atlantic Way regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The victim stated that a female adult subject, his girlfriend, was engaged in a verbal altercation with an unknown male adult suspect. The victim intervened, which resulted in a physical altercation between the suspect and victim which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled on foot eastbound towards Seaside Way before officers arrived. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Officers Responded to Two Street Takeover Incidents - Street racing and reckless driving are not tolerated in the city of Long Beach. On June 15, 2023 at approximately 9:00 p.m., East Division patrol officers responded to the 6200 block of Pacific Coast Highway regarding a street takeover/car club meet up. Upon arrival, officers observed approximately 500 street racing cars. Traffic Enforcement Officers quickly dispersed the group.  The group reassembled near Spring Street and Bellflower Boulevard. Again, officers quickly responded and dispersed the group to end the illegal street takeover event. Officers issued a dozen citations.

This information is preliminary and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.
