As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Updated at 4:53 p.m.:

  • Earlier this morning, a 12-year-old girl walking near Washington Middle School was approached by a male adult suspect who wrapped his arms around her and attempted to move her. The victim freed herself, ran away, and reported the incident. She was physically unharmed, and the investigation is ongoing. A few safety tips:
          • Walk in pairs/groups when possible.
          • Look after one another.
          • Walk in highly trafficked areas.
     West Division Patrol and Neighborhood Safety Bike Team officers are conducting additional patrols and safe passage In the area. See Something, Say Something by calling 562.435.6711 to report criminal activity. Call 9-1-1 for emergencies.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers Investigate a No Hit Shooting: On June 1, 2023, at approximately 12:53 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Linden Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was inside his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown vehicle. A male adult suspect fired a gun at him from the passenger seat of the suspect vehicle. The victim was not injured, and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
