As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Homicide - 4900 Long Beach Boulevard: On July 8, 2024 at approximately 9:01 p.m., officers responded to the 4900 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect fired shots, striking three male victims. The suspect fled the scene. One victim was treated at the scene; the second victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition; the third victim was determined to be deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the incident. A news release with more info is forthcoming. 

Great job officers! Last night officers safely took guns and drugs off the streets.
  • On July 8, 2024 at approximately 12:29 p.m. officers responded to the area of 14th Street and San Francisco Avenue regarding a person with a gun call. Through their investigation, officers recovered a firearm, replica firearm, and drugs. The suspect was determined to be a prohibited possessor and was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

  • On July 8, 2024 at approximately 2:11 p.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a person with a gun call. Through their investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect was determined to be a prohibited possessor and was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
