As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a stabbing On July 8, 2023 at 12:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Artesia Boulevard regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and an unknown male adult suspect were engaged in a verbal and physical dispute during the commission of a robbery which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the scene in a white vehicle with an unknown female adult. The investigation is ongoing. 
  • Officers investigate a shooting into an inhabited dwelling - On July 7, 2023 at approximately9:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Adriatic Ave regarding a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, officers contacted the calling party, who found their residence had been struck by gunfire. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No suspect information is known at this time. The investigation is ongoing. 
  • Officers investigate a shooting into an inhabited dwelling - On July 7, 2023 at 2135 hours, officers were dispatched to a motel in the 1000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway regarding a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No suspect information is known at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
