As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a hit shooting: On July 26, 2023 at approximately 8:37 p.m., officers responded to the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard regarding a hit shooting report. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male juvenile victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was uncooperative in providing details of the incident, however officers determined the incident occurred in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no suspect information nor motive is known. The investigation is ongoing. 

  • Officers investigate a no-hit shooting: On July 27, 2023 at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Clair del Avenue regarding a shots call, later determined to be a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, officers contacted the calling party who stated she was inside her residence when she heard presumed gunfire and observed that her residence had been struck by gunfire. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information nor motive is available. The investigation is ongoing.
