As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No-Hit Shooting- 2500 block of Santa Fe Avenue- On July 21, 2024 at approximately 4:28 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Santa Fe Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that a group of victims were having a verbal dispute with another group, which escalated when a male adult suspect began firing a gun. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. No injuries were reported. Suspect information is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
  • No-Hit Shooting- 6300 block of Orange Avenue- On July 21, 2024 at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Orange Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence that a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult suspect fired multiple shots at two unoccupied vehicles. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. No injuries were reported. Suspect information is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Stabbing- 1700 block of East Anaheim Street- On July 20, 2024 at approximately 10:44 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of East Anaheim Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and a male adult suspect were involved in a verbal dispute, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
