This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Officers investigate a stabbing and arrest suspect: On July 15, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to her upper body. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking on Long Beach Boulevard when a male adult suspect walking the opposite direction stabbed her with a knife as they passed each other. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. Motive for the stabbing is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby. The suspect was transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Kenneth Stamps, a 28-year-old person experiencing homelessness, who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Bail is set at $30,000.

Officers investigate a shooting and arrest suspect: On July 16, 2023, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Chestnut Avenue regarding a battery which escalated into a shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates that the male adult suspect and his partner, the first male adult victim were in a physical altercation when a female adult victim and second male adult victim attempted to intervene. During the fight, the suspect fired a gun at the female victim and second male victim but did not strike them. The suspect remained on scene. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the first male victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body from the battery. Motive for the shooting is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect was identified as Keven Gonzales, a 21-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for assault with a firearm and felony domestic violence. Bail is set at $50,000.
