As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting- 1500 Block of Locust Avenue: On July 14, 2024 at approximately 9:31 p.m. officers responded to the 1500 block of Locust Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gun shot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported him to a local hospital in stable condition. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot by an unknown suspect who fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Great work officers! Yesterday, officers safely took a gun off the streets.
  • On July 14, 2024 at approximately 4:43 p.m. officers responded to the 1600 block of East Artesia Boulevard regarding a person with a gun call. Through their investigation, officers recovered a gun. The suspect was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
