As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • **Officers investigate a hit-and-run collision: Today at approximately 1:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Locust Avenue and Seaside Way regarding a possible hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and male adult subject. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male in the street who had been struck by a vehicle. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and determined the subject deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the subject jumped off a nearby building and shortly after, was run over by a pickup truck which fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No additional information on the driver of the pickup truck is available. Collision Investigation detectives responded to the scene to further the investigation. 
  • Officers investigate a homicide: On July 11, 2023, at approximately 11:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to area of Loma Vista and Corvo Court regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body. The unknown suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. The male victim was transported to a local hospital, were he later succumbed to his injuries.The investigation is ongoing. A news release detailing the incident is forthcoming.

  • Officers investigate a stabbing: On July 11, 2023, at approximately 11:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Willow Street and the 405 Freeway regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening injuries to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was approached by an unknown suspect and was suddenly stabbed. At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the stabbing is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
