As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • Hit Shooting – 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue – On Jan. 26, 2024, at approximately 9:12 pm, officers responded to a hit shooting in the 1800 block of Atlantic Av.  Arriving officers located and rendered aid to a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.  LBFD arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.  The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was riding a scooter in the area when a vehicle stopped alongside him.  Shots were fired at the victim from the vehicle before the vehicle fled.  A crime scene, including casings, was located.  No suspect information is currently available.  Detectives responded to the scene, and the investigation is on-going.
  • No-hit shooting - 3100 block of East 4th Street - On January 27, 2024 at approximately 3:20 AM, officers responded to the 3100 block of 4th St regarding a report of gunshots being fired.  The preliminary investigation determined a domestic dispute involving multiple subjects had occurred.  The dispute escalated and two male adult subjects discharged a firearm. There are no injuries to any of the involved parties.  No arrests have been made at this time. Gang Detectives responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
