As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No-Hit Shooting - 100 block of W. 15th Street- Today, at approximately 12:55 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of W. 15th Street regarding a shots call, later determined to be a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.

Update 8:30 p.m.
Detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision at Ellis Street and Long Beach Boulevard.
At approximately 6:58 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle, which resulted in the death of a male adult. Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was going northbound Long Beach Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it collided with a vehicle making a left turn from southbound Long Beach Boulevard. The male adult motorcyclist was determined deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Long Beach Boulevard is closed between Ellis St. and the 710 Freeway. The investigation is ongoing. A news release with additional information is forthcoming.
