SWAT activation - 1200 block of Olive Avenue - On Jan. 15, 2024 at approximately 9:43 pm, officers responded to the 1200 block of Olive Avenue for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers contacted two female adult victims who advised them that a male adult suspect had pointed a firearm at them during a dispute. The suspect went inside his nearby residence. Officers contacted the suspect, and he refused to surrender. SWAT resources were activated, and neighbors were evacuated. SWAT negotiators contacted the suspect, and the suspect ultimately surrendered safely to officers. The suspect has been identified as Alfonzo Crear, a 72-year-old resident of Long Beach. He was booked into the Long Beach City Jail on the charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and his bail is set at $30,000. No injuries were reported in this incident, and the investigation is on-going.
