As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • Hit shooting – 6500 block of Muriel Avenue – On Jan. 13, 2025 at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6500 block of Muriel Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival officers, contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for their injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was sitting in his parked vehicle, when a suspect approached the victim and shot him before fleeing on foot. No other injuries were reported. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation.

Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took two guns off the streets.

  •  On Jan.13, 2025 at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area Atlantic Avenue and Esther Street. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect was determined to be a prohibited possessor and was subsequently arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

  •  On Jan.13, 2025 at approximately 9:01 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Walnut Avenue. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, two male adult suspects fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were detained. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm from one of the suspects. The suspect was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
