No-Hit Shooting- 200 Block of East Willard Street- On Feb. 25, 2024, at approximately 7:22 p.m., officers were in the area of the 200 block of East Willard Street when they heard gunshots and observed a vehicle speeding away from the area. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield resulting in a department-authorized vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, a witness observed an occupant throw a firearm out of the vehicle. The witness contacted police who responded and recovered the firearm. The vehicle eventually pulled over and three subjects were detained.

A witness to the shooting told police a suspect in a vehicle discharged a firearm at a group of minors then fled in an unknown direction. No one was struck by gunfire and no injuries were reported.

Detectives are investigating how/if the vehicle was involved in the original shooting.

The driver was identified as Sierra Meshay Drapers, a 29-year-old resident of Long Beach who was booked for recklessly evading police and possession of brass knuckles. Bail is pending magistrate review. One of the male adult passengers was transported to the Long Beach Jail, where he was cited and released for possession of a switchblade knife. The other male adult passenger was released at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
