As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Stabbing – 700 block of Gardenia Avenue - Today at approximately 1:29 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Gardenia Avenue regarding reports of a person screaming, which was later determined to be an attempt murder. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to thew upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was approached by an unknown number of male suspects and following a brief verbal interaction, the suspects battered him and subsequently stabbed him. The suspects fled towards an unknown direction prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
