As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • No-Hit Shooting - 63rd Street and Deforest Avenue - On Feb. 23, 2024, at approximately 11:22 p.m., officers responded to the area of 63rd Street and Deforest Avenue regarding a shots call, later determined to be a negligent discharge. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casing indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates two suspects exited a vehicle and discharged firearms in the air. The suspects fled in their vehicle prior to officers' arrival. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
