As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • Burglary with SWAT resources - 1500 block of Summit Street - On Feb. 21, 2024, at approximately 7:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Summit Street regarding a burglary. The preliminary investigation indicates a female adult suspect entered a residence and barricaded herself inside alone. Officers made numerous callouts for the suspect to exit the residence, but she refused. Members of the SWAT team responded to the scene. Officers safely took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Samara Lenai Allen, a 21-year-old person experiencing homelessness who was booked for vandalism, resisting arrest, and burglary. Bail is pending magistrate review. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Stabbing - 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue - On Feb. 22. 2024, at approximately 2:54 a.m., officers were in the area of the 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue when they observed a fight in progress. The preliminary investigation indicates a group of female adults engaged in a brief verbal altercation, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim resulting in non-life threatening injuries to the upper body. The victim declined medical treatment. The suspect was identified as Laiandra Money Joshlin, a 19-year-old resident of Long Beach who was booked for an assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $50,000. The investigation is ongoing.
