As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers arrest suspect responsible for non-fatal hit shooting- On 2/10/2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of East 28th street regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, contacted a male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim stated he was walking in the area when he became involved in a verbal dispute with an adult male suspect that escalated to the shooting. Responding officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him. The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The suspect has been identified as Willie James Jr. Glover , a 44-year-old resident of Long Beach who was booked for one count of attempted murder, one count of a felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of prohibited possession of ammunition. Bail was set at $1,100,000. The investigation is ongoing.
