As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
- Hit-shooting – 1000 block of Alamitos Avenue: On Jan. 31, 2024, at approximately 8:12 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Alamitos Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Officers rendered medical aid to the victim until the Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was standing outside a business when he heard presumed gunfire and noticed he had been struck. The unknown suspect fled the scene before the police arrived. No suspect information nor motive is known. The investigation is ongoing.
- No-hit-shooting – 8th Street and Stanley Avenue: On Jan. 31, 2024, at approximately 9:54 p.m., officers responded to the area of 8th Street and Stanley Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
