As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

  • No-hit shooting: On Dec. 25, 2023 at approximately 9:04 p.m., officers dispatched to the area of Paramount Boulevard and 68th Street regarding a no-hit shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates the male adult victim was walking in the area when he was approached by an unknown male adult suspect when a brief verbal altercation occurred, which escalated when the suspect discharged a firearm towards the victim.Officers located the suspect who was nearby, he was subsequently arrested and transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. No injuries were reported.The investigation is ongoing. 

  • Negligent Discharge of a Firearm: On Dec 25, 2023 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the 5000 block of Rose Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
