Officers investigate a no-hit shooting with SWAT activation – 5800 block of Falcon Avenue: On August 28, 2024, at approximately 9:30 pm, officers responded to the 5800 block of Falcon Avenue regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted an uninjured female adult victim, who stated the male adult suspect walked out of a residence, discharged a firearm in her direction, and walked back inside. Officers established a perimeter and attempted to call out the suspect. SWAT responded to the scene and attempted to deescalate the situation. SWAT officers deployed gas, and the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the suspect to a local hospital for medical clearance prior to booking. Officers recovered a firearm. The suspect was identified as Salvador Salazar, an 80-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for attempted murder. Bail was set at $1,000,000. The investigation is ongoing.
