As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

No-hit shooting – 00 block of West 49th Street: On Aug. 17, 2024 at approximately 11:16 p.m., officers responded to the 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a shots call. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was driving in the 00 block of West 49th Street when he heard presumed gunfire and noticed his vehicle had been struck. Officers located strike marks and evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The suspects(s) fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
- On Aug. 17, 2024 at approximately 8:32 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Spring Street and Santa Fe Avenue. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
- On Aug. 18, 2024 at approximately 12:11 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of 67th Way regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. During their investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect who was later determined to be a prohibited possessor, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
