As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- No-Hit Shooting – 500 Block of Pleasant Street: On Aug.13, 2024 at approximately 11:27 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Pleasant Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located an unoccupied vehicle with strike marks and evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect(s) information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
- On Aug. 13, 2024 at approximately 6:54 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop near Pacific Coast Highway and Orange Avenue. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect, who was later determined to be a prohibited possessor, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
- On Aug. 14, 2024 at approximately 3:22 a.m., officers responded to the area of Harbor Plaza and Queens Way regarding a group of subjects displaying a firearm. Officers responded, located the group, and recovered the firearm. A male juvenile suspect was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
