As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

• Officers Investigate a No-Hit Shooting: On August 13, 2023 at approximately 2:02 a.m., officers responded to the 5400 block of Linden Avenue regarding a shots call, which was later determined to be a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and the male adult suspect got into a verbal dispute that escalated to the suspect firing shots in the air. No injuries were reported. The suspect was arrested on scene and identified as Daniel Salas-Barrios, a 29-year-old resident of Long Beach. Daniel Salas-Barrios was transported to the Long Beach City Jail on one count of assault with a firearm and is being held on $50,000 bail. Officers located casings and evidence that a shooting had occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
