Officers investigate a hit shooting: On August 12, 2023 at 2:29 a.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital regarding a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was inside a vehicle in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 68th Street when the suspect exited a dark colored sedan and discharged a firearm, striking the victim and the vehicle. The victim recognized he had been struck by gunfire and transported himself to the hospital. Officers responded to the area and located and collected bullet casings. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Gang detectives responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
