This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Officers investigate a hit shooting: On Aug. 10, 2023 at 8:09 p.m., officers responded to the area of Wardlow Road and Clark Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle with two gunshot wound victims, a female adult with a gunshot wound to her upper body and a male adult with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital. The female is in critical but stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates a verbal altercation occurred between the victims and a known male adult suspect in front of a residence the 5100 block of Brockwood Street, which escalated when the suspect shot and struck the victims as they attempted to drive away. The victims pulled over in the intersection of Wardlow Road and Clark Avenue to wave down vehicles for help, when their vehicle was involved in a minor traffic collision. The driver involved in the collision observed the victim’s gunshot wounds and called for police. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before officers’ arrival. No suspect information is avaliable. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers investigate a negligent discharge: Today at approximately 12:12 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Via Carmelitos regarding a shots call, later determined to be a shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including bullet casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect information is known, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
