As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- No-Hit Shooting – 600 block of East 10th Street - On April 8, 2024, at approximately 6:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East 10th Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect discharged a firearm towards an unknown direction and fled the scene before officers arrival. No injuries were reported. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
- No-Hit Shooting – 100 block of East 28th Street - On April 8, 2024 at approximately 9:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East 28th Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates an unknown subject driving a vehicle shot towards a group of male subjects, resulting in another male adult suspect returning fire. The suspects and victims fled the scene before officers arrival. No injuries were reported. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
- No-Hit Shooting – 1300 block of Pine Avenue - On April 9, 2024 at approximately 2:24 a.m., officers were in the area of 1300 block of Pine Avenue and heard gunshots. Additional officers located a crashed stolen vehicle nearby and determined a shooting had occurred in the area of Locust Avenue and Anaheim Street. Officers located two male adult suspects and two juvenile male suspects near 16th Street and Long Beach Boulevard. The preliminary investigation indicates two male adults, and two male teenagers were driving a stolen vehicle when they were shot at by an unknown suspect in a vehicle. Officers arrested and transported the 17-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle to Long Beach City Jail for booking. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
