As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting – 10th Street and Daisy Avenue - On April 7, 2024 at approximately 7:44 p.m., officers responded to the area of 10th Street and Daisy Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injury. The preliminary investigation indicates a group of male adults were in a parking lot when another group of male adults arrived. A verbal altercation occurred between the groups, which escalated when the suspect shot the victim. All groups fled the scene before officers arrived. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

  • No-Hit Shooting - East 10th Street and Myrtle Avenue - On April 7, 2024 at approximately 5:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East 10th Street and Myrtle Avenue regarding a shots call. The scene was later determined to be East 10th Street and Lewis Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect shot towards a victim inside a vehicle. The suspect and victim fled the scene before police arrived. No injuries were reported. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
