As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

No Hit Shooting – 1500 block West 20th Street - On April 5, 2024, at approximately 11:27 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of West 20th Street regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted an uninjured female adult victim. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was driving in the area of Baltic Avenue and 20th Street when she observed two male juvenile suspects outside. As she drove past the suspects, she heard presumed gunfire and discovered her vehicle had been struck. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

No Hit Shooting – 2900 block of Webster Avenue - On April 5, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Webster Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers contacted two uninjured male adult victims. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victims had parked their vehicles when they were approached by two unknown male adult suspects. The suspects revealed a firearm and subsequently discharged it towards the victim’s direction. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Hit Shooting – 1200 block of East 4th Street - On April 6, 2024, at approximately 1:08 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of East 4th Street regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside of a business when an altercation occurred with a group of male adult suspects. The victim was in the parking lot when he was approached by one of the suspects which escalated when the suspect revealed a firearm and shot the victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Hit Shooting – 2400 block of Baltic Avenue - On April 6, 2024, at approximately 1:41 a.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Baltic Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid until the arrival of Long Beach Fire Department personnel. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Suspect information, circumstances, and motive for the shooting are under investigation.
