As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Officers investigate a hit-shooting - On 4/5/23, at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of 59th Street and Linden Avenue regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, and a female adult victim suffering from minor injuries to the upper body. The victim stated he and his partner were visiting an acquaintance, a male adult suspect, when all parties entered into a verbal dispute that escalated when the suspect shot the male victim and pistol-whipped the female victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department transported the male victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Officers locate evidence of a no-hit shooting- On 4/6/2023, at approximately 4:14 a.m., officers responded to the area of Summit Street and Fashion Avenue regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no injuries were reported, no suspect information is available, the motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
