Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a life-threatening gun shot wound to his upper body. Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the victim. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury. At approximately 12:34 a.m., officers located a possible suspect in a vehicle, which led to a department authorized vehicle pursuit before the possible suspect fled from his vehicle near Pacific Coast Highway and Walnut Avenue. SWAT eventually located the possible suspect inside the perimeter and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking for a no-bail warrant. At this time, homicide detectives are actively investigating his involvement, if any, in the incident. The motive and circumstance for the murder are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing. A news release is forthcoming and will be posted here.
