As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No shootings nor stabbings were reported overnight.

*Update 5:10 p.m.Officers investigate homicide - On 4/12/23, at approximately 3:38 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of East 1st Street regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from apparent stab wounds to the body. The unknown male suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Officers are currently on the scene and homicide detectives are responding to further the investigation. The investigation is ongoing. A news release with additional information regarding the incident will be published tomorrow on our website here.
