Officers surrounded the house and contacted the male adult suspect, who they observed to be armed with a firearm.  Officers engaged in verbal de-escalation for over an hour.  SWAT resources responded and were preparing to deploy when an officer-involved shooting occurred.  The suspect was struck once in the upper body, and officers immediately rendered aid.  LBFD paramedics treated and transported the suspect to local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  A replica firearm was recovered at the scene.  No other injuries were reported, and no officers were injured.  The investigation is ongoing.
