LBPD Arrests Suspect For 9/11 Shooting, Seizes Firearms

Release Date: 2022-09-16

On Sept. 11, 2022 at approximately 10:34 p.m., officers responded to a no hit shooting in the 2500 block of Lakewood Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. Through their investigation, officers determined an unknown male suspect was involved in a verbal dispute with a group of subjects, which escalated to the suspect firing an assault rifle towards the subjects. All parties fled prior to officers' arrival. No injuries were reported.

Over the last few days, gang detectives identified two suspects and secured a search warrant for a residence. This morning, the LBPD SWAT team served a search warrant in the City of Anaheim where they detained two suspects and seized numerous assault weapons, rifles, handguns, ammunition, and gun parts.

Detectives booked one of the suspects into Long Beach City Jail and released the second suspect, pending further investigation. Michael Goodwin, a 38-year-old resident of Anaheim, was booked for attempt murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bail.

We commend our detectives for their quick work to identify and arrest this suspect and take these firearms off the street.
