Gang Detectives Identify and Arrest Attempted Murder Suspect

Hit Shooting - 2800 block of E. 7th Street. On Dec. 20, 2022 at approximately 1:06 a.m., officers responded to a shots call in the 2800 block of E. 7th Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire with non-life-threatening injuries. Through the preliminary investigation, officers learned a male adult suspect shot the victim then ran away from the area. Additional suspect info and motive remain under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.


Update 1/19/2023:

Following the incident, Gang detectives responded to the scene and furthered the investigation. Over the subsequent weeks, detectives gathered evidence and generated leads to identify the suspect. On Jan. 18, 2023 at approximately 3:00 p.m., detectives located the suspect near his residence in the 700 block of Gladys Avenue, where he was detained, arrested, and transported to Long Beach City jail for booking. A search warrant service was performed at the suspect’s residence where officers located and recovered a firearm and several rounds of ammunition. The suspect has been identified as Erick Bryant Jr., a 35-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked on one count of attempted murder, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of felon in possession of ammunition. Bail was set at $1,000,000.
