On Jan. 28, 2023, at approximately 5:53 p.m., patrol officers working near the area of 10th Street and Walnut Avenue observed several subjects pushing a vehicle. Officers quickly determined that the vehicle had been stolen the previous day from a parking lot near the 1000 block of Pacific Coast Highway; the victim’s dog, which was inside the vehicle at the time of the theft and had also been stolen, remained outstanding. Through their investigation, officers determined the subjects were not involved with the theft and discovered information indicating the suspect was in a nearby residence. Officers went to the residence and contacted a female adult suspect in possession of the stolen dog and took her into custody.

Officers contacted the victim and reunited him with his dog and vehicle.

The suspect was identified as Chantal Thompson, a 33-year-old resident of Long Beach who was arrested for one count of grand theft auto and one count of grand theft money/labor/property. Bail was set at $35,000.

Great work officers!
