LBPD Officers Arrest Suspect Threatening to Commit a Workplace Shooting and Seize Multiple Firearms

On Jan 7, 2023, officers responded to the 3500 block of East Broadway regarding a report of criminal threats.
Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult victim who stated that on Jan 4, 2023, a coworker brought firearms to their place of work and made threats of shooting his coworkers. The victim further stated that the suspect regularly carried a firearm on his person.
Detectives responded to investigate the incident further and discovered that the suspect had access to multiple registered firearms. Detectives subsequently obtained a Gun Violence Emergency Protective Order, restraining the suspect from the firearms, and, an arrest warrant for the suspect.
On Jan 9, 2023, at approximately 5:20 p.m., detectives located the suspect driving near his place of work, conducted a traffic stop, and arrested him. Shortly after, the LBPD SWAT team, along with gang detectives, and patrol officers, conducted a search warrant at the suspect's residence in the City of Seal Beach During their search, officers seized six firearms, including several illegal assault weapons.
The suspect has been identified as Aiken Bui, a 35-year-old resident of the City of Seal Beach who was booked for one count of threatening a crime with intent to terrorize and one count of possession of an assault weapon. Bail was set at $100,000.
