PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT FROM SKIMMING DEVICES

Identity thieves have developed devices capable of copying credit card information, which can be hidden inside the slot or overlaid on top of legitimate payment or ATM devices. These devices can be difficult to detect, and can store or transmit your data for thieves to recover. Thieves need both the magnetic information from the card and the PIN. PINS can be stolen using fake keypads or a concealed camera.

Here are some tips to help prevent theft:

• Cover the keypad whenever possible to obscure concealed cameras from observing PIN entry.
• Look carefully to see if something appears suspicious about any ATM or payment device.
• Report suspicious persons, activity, or devices.
