UPDATE: On June 1, 2017, detectives made an arrest in a murder investigation from February 28, 2016. The suspect has been identified as 32 year-old Richard Anthony Meza. Meza was arrested in the city of Pomona and booked into the Long Beach Jail for murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $2,000,000 bail. The assault with a deadly weapon is from an unrelated incident from October 23, 2016 in the area of 10th Street and Orange Avenue.
The victim was later identified as Jose William Ortiz Marin a 33 year-old resident of Long Beach.

When officers arrived, they located a deceased male adult who had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso. At this time, the name of the victim is not being released. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will positively identify the victim and notify next of kin.
