Today, homicide detectives presented a murder case to the LA County District Attorney’s office for filing consideration.
On October 9, 2016, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Long Beach Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway regarding a possible shooting
When officers arrived, they found a male adult victim who had been struck by gunfire in the upper torso
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries and was listed in stable condition
On November 1, 2016, detectives were notified the victim had died from the injuries he sustained in the shooting. The victim has been identified as Michael Thompson a 47 year-old resident of Long Beach.
On November 9, 2016, officers arrested 27 year-old, Justin White of Long Beach for the murder of Thompson. Detectives located White at a residence in the 700 block of Gaviota Avenue. The Long Beach Police Department SWAT team was activated to handle the incident since it was believed the suspect was armed and dangerous. He subsequently surrendered to SWAT officers and was arrested without incident.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed 5 felony counts against Justin White, and his bail was set at $3,135,000.00.
